Visit the Chris Sanderson Museum and several Chichester Events coming

  I would like to thank all the people that come to my show and the Ridley Creek State Park last week. It was a great time and the money went to the Colonial Plantation a Great Cause!
Word is out that the Morton Homestead in Prospect Park on Lincoln Ave. may be opening soon! It has been closed for several years. It is the oldest house in Penna.

         Pirate Day was sort of rained out so we have decided to have another Splash Day on August 26th. The theme will be " End of Summer - Back to School". We will get the children wet, have races, tugs of war, candles, and corn husk dolls.

August 26th Program
On August 26th at 2:00 p.m. at the Chichester Meetinghouse, the Pennsylvania Women's History Project will host a program and exhibit entitled, "A Woman's Work Is Never Done."  The exhibit will feature a sampling of colonial candies and Liberty teas, an apron collection, irons, washboards, dishes, utensils, textiles and other items used by women in the 19th and 20th centuries.  Summer refreshments will follow.  A small donation is requested for the Graceanna Lewis (Quaker abolitionist and scientist) historical marker to be installed in 2013 in Kimberton, Chester County.  Call 610-453-4075 or email herashouse@yahoo.com for directions to the Chichester Meetinghouse, 611 Meetinghouse Road, Upper Chichester.

Delaware County 100 years ago in pictures and a DCHS exhibit

                                The Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation will offer its first ever
                                               “Wednesday Evening at the Farm”
   with a special presentation by local historian, Keith Lockhart. The event will be held inside the       
         main  ballroom at the headquarters at Ridley Creek State Park. This is the office for
              the State Park, the  old Jeffords Mansion, just follow the signs for the park office.
              At 7 PM Lockhart will present the program featuring his prized collection of Delaware County postcards. Lockhart’s collection is considered the largest of its kind in the region. Take a trip through Delaware County 100 years ago when postcards were the rage! During the evening, the Colonial Plantation farmhouse and the kitchen garden will be available for tours they will open at 6. Demonstrations taking place include textile making and long rifle firing. Of course,
                                the Plantation’s farm animals will be around for viewing.
                            Closing time is 9 PM. Admission is $5 per person. Children under 4 are free.
                                  One fee for both events! Money to benefit the Colonial Plantation.
The Plantation is located in Ridley Creek State Park and is easily reached via Routes 3, 352, 252

Farm Chores at the Plantation & Open Houses

  Whenever you see farm chores you know that it will be a peaceful day where you can play "colonial" and enjoy the serenity of the farm. You are invited to work on a project or skill that you want to do.
